Immigrant Records at the National Archives

One of the first places to start researching your family’s immigration history is the National Archives. There are two types of records in the archives: immigration and naturalization records. Immigrant records are collected from people who arrived by ship into the country. These records are updated periodically. Passenger arrival records are collected by ship and are organized by port of entry. These records may include information such as nationality, place of birth, date of entry into the U.S., height, profession, religion, and amount of money being brought on board.
National Archives
The National Archives has a number of different types of immigration files, such as passenger manifests and ancestry records. They also keep case files from sub-offices and stations in California, as well as immigration and naturalization statistics. In addition to these, the National Archives also maintains a number of historical files on immigrant history, including indexes to naturalization and emigration.
Immigration records
The National Archives has immigration records from 1820 to 1982. The files are organized by the airport and port of arrival, and you can order them online or through the NATF 81 form. There are lists of people who came to the U.S. by airplane, ship, and government agency. In addition, the records from the Chinese Confession Program (CCP) are also available in the National Archives. If you want to learn more about your family’s immigration history, the National Archive is the place for you.
